The end of tax-free online shopping draws nearer
Wed Apr 24, 2013
This will ABSOLUTELY change the way I make purchases. I know my state needs the tax revenue, but my income is not that great. I will buy less both online and at local B&M stores. I recently canceled an online purchase with LL Bean, after waiting an entire year for the item I wanted to go back on …
'A better future': College student from India wins $1 million lottery prize
Thu Dec 13, 2012
Of the several comments I read, nobody mentioned that now that he has assets, any aid he was receiving to go to college will likely be lost. The colleges will take it all, and they will count the Mercedes as an asset as well, I think.
Do you hear what I hear? Your brain on Christmas music
Fri Nov 23, 2012
I refrain from going into stores as much as possible during the month between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I hate the constant repetition, year after year, of the same songs. Thank goodness for MP3 players. Now I bring one loaded with the music I prefer, and can actually manage to stroll through the …
Which retailers made Consumer Reports' 'Naughty & Nice' list?
Mon Nov 19, 2012
Had I known about this review before they compiled their list, I would have nominated Comcast for their poor cable TV package options, for penalizing those of us who choose a very basic service by forcing us to remote through dozens of channels we don't have by choice, and for failing to respond to …

Tue Jun 19, 2012
This happens to me a lot. It's always a small fragment and repeats over and over and over again in my head. It reminds me of how Leonardo diCaprio repeated words when he played Howard Hughes. I have found something that often works to dislodge whatever fragment is there though. I just need to sing t …
Many workers don't look forward to retiring
Mon Jun 18, 2012
I also fear that I might be lonely and bored, but there are ways to get around those issues, so not enough money trumps those concerns.
More Americans clocking in during their golden years
Fri May 18, 2012
Actually, none of these choices. I'm hoping between 70 and 75. I had hoped never, but not in my current position/career!
What to buy when you win the $640 million Mega Millions
Fri Mar 30, 2012
The most extravagant would be a luxury vaca home near my sons, which they could use when I'm not there. Otherwise, just a bit above my usua
GOP candidates wade into food stamp debate
Mon Jan 9, 2012
My white, 87 yo mom gets food stamps. She's no longer able to prepare full meals like she used to, and unfortunately has to rely increasingly on prepared foods. This program has helped her continue to live independently. She's certainly not able to go out and earn the money for her food. As an unedu …
